Galtur is a charming, peaceful little community clustered around a pretty church, amid impressive mountain scenery. It is the highest ski village in the Austrian Silvretta region and could hardly be more different from the party town of Ischgl six miles down the Paznaun Valley (there is a free bus between the two). This traditional village is ideal for families and mixed-ability groups, and there’s a high level of service in the restaurants and hotels. The resort has an excellent snow record as it set at 1600m, the slopes are typically uncrowded and there‘s little queuing for the lifts. Most of the local area of pistes are red runs, but there are plentiful off-piste challenges too, so it is great for mixed ability groups.
