We all know that booking a catered chalet can be a great way to keep your holiday costs down, socialise and meet new friends. Here are some of my best value ski resort areas for catered chalets or chalet-hotels holidays. They are also amongst the best value resorts to book your group parties, as 'chalets' and 'groups' often go hand in hand, especially if you want a place for sole use.

We can always get you a generous number of free places for groups bookings, with 'up to' 1 free place for every 4 passengers.

·     PARADISKI, FRANCE: La Plagne and Les Arcs. As we know, France is not cheap, but these 2 resorts are relatively excellent value and have a large variety of chalets to cater for all budgets. However, they tend to focus on smaller to mid-sized chalets that are particularly suitable for small groups and families (there are few large chalet-hotels in the area). La Plagne and Les Arcs both comprise various satellite resorts, for instance in La Plagne there are some 10 villages each with its own character and infrastructure, whereas Les Arcs has 4 main resorts of Arc 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000. A great value area covering some 225kms of piste and something for all skiing abilities.

·     DOLOMITES, ITALY: In this area, you will be amazed how reasonable it is to eat and drink on the mountain or in the resort. Most resorts in the Dolomiti Superski area are not that large compared to many French and Austrian resorts and this goes for the chalets as well. Most chalets are located in Selva, Arabba, and Canazei, although Inghams do have a chalet-hotel in La Villa and Cortina. Anyone that has skied the breathtakingly beautiful 'Sella Ronda' will testify to the fact that this is prime skiers' territory and one of the most enjoyable places to ski in the world (unless you get lost perhaps). The area has 1220 kms of piste in total and is one of the largest interlinked ski area in the Alps.
