What our customers say

Hi Rosalyn Where do we start – we all had an amazing holiday!!! I can highly recommend Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful, food amazing, massive variety plus the extra restaurants were superb. Rooms were very spacious and well equipped and really clean. Mini bar was well stocked. There was entertainment on each night, usually a band playing or something similar. Snorkelling, life jackets were provided for 1 hour a day as was Paddle boarding. Excellent staff who showed you were to swim and took you out for paddle boarding lessons. Saw turtles in this area. The main pool area did get very busy at times and it was very difficult to get a day bed as people reserved them – this area was where the children would congregate. It’s also by accommodation building numbers 1 and 2, so if you have children would recommend staying in these blocks. We were in block 4 which was perfect, more peaceful. Had hammocks and beach bar outside our ground floor room. Benefits of having ground floor room was extra decking and lovely wooden seats – a lot more space and just metres away from the beach. Main beach area where the snorkelling and paddle boarding is (next to main pool) was much busier than further down near buildings 3 and 4, it’s also nearer to the snack bars and restaurants. There is a problem with seaweed this time of year but the gardening staff work from 6am-4pm clearing it so it wasn’t a problem at all. No dreadful smells as mentioned on some of the reviews I have read. However, round the corner and further down the beach there was a problem with seaweed as it wasn’t cleared every day. Wildlife in resort was amazing, swam with turtles and marine life, although husband trod on sea urchin - ouch. Lots of iguana’s and other wildlife around the grounds. Even saw baby turtles coming out of their nests and swimming out to sea. Akumal Bay is where the turtles lay their eggs and is protected, so need to bare that in mind. Lots of nests on beaches which are monitored by conservation staff – wonderful if you like that sort of thing. We found this amazing. The trips we went on were the Fat Cat Catamaran and Sailing Tour to see the reef and marine life – swan with turtles and sting rays etc Whale Shark Explorer with Ocean Tours – absolutely amazing (best trip ever) XelHa Water Park – found this park more natural with lagoons and plenty of snorkelling. Less commercialised. Had a sting ray encounter which is a must if you visit here – Sting Ray are free to swim up to you unlike the Dolphins which are kept in pens. I think you can tell that we had a fantastic holiday, one we would highly recommend. This hotel and resort are perfect if you prefer a more natural and calmer holiday. Whereas Playa del Carmen is a lot busier and very touristy. Have already mentioned to friends about booking through you so fingers crossed you may get some phone calls. Thank you so much for all your help and for booking a fantastic holiday. Michelle
