Rovinj is a Croatian fishing port on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. The old town stands on a headland, with houses tightly crowded down to the seafront. A tangle of cobbled streets leads to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia, whose towering steeple dominates the skyline. South of the old town is Lone Bay, one of the area’s pebble beaches. The Rovinj archipelago’s 14 islands lie immediately off the mainland.

Insider tip

The Top Five hotels in Rovinj   - Hotel Monte Mulini, Hotel Adriatic, Hotel Lone, Island Hotel Istra, Hotel Eden

Rovinj’s restaurants will impress with their selection of creative dishes with fresh fish, crabs and shellfish, Istrian’s cured ham, truffles or wild asparagus. Our top pick is  Taverna De Amicis  – This hidden gem serves Istrian Specialities and of course great Seafood. If ordering Lobster or Fish of the Day beware prices are by weight not by portion.

The best beaches are - Scaraba Beach – 3 kilometres from the town centre the beautiful natural and rocky beach is located within the Golden Cape Park Forest giving it a special charm.  Lone Bay – One of the most visited beaches in Rovinj, just 15 minutes walk from the town centre near the entrance of the protected forest park Golden Cape. And finally Porton Biondi Beach – This is the only beach with a view of Rovinj’s beautiful old town. Located 1 klm north from the town centre.

From July there is the Rovinj Summer Festival - Beginning in the middle of the month and running through August, classical, pop and folk musicians perform in Rovinj's churches and squares. This combines with the Grisia Art Fair when Galleries along Grisia Street open to the public in a streetwide celebration.
