Grenada, dubbed “The Spice Island” due to the amount of Nutmeg and other spices that are grown here is less developed than many of the more well-known Caribbean Islands and this is a big part of its unique charm. There are no high-rise developments and even the most popular and perfect beaches are relatively quiet – so if you are looking to get away from it all (maybe even play at being Robinson Crusoe or Tom Hanks in “Castaway”) this is the perfect Island for you. And if that wasn’t enough they even make Chocolate here! Now that’s my definition of Paradise.
Grenada is 12 miles wide by 24 miles long – though the Mountains in the centre make it seem larger (The rainforest is worth a visit, there are some beautiful waterfalls) – so it’s really easy to get around and see the whole of the Island. Grand Anse is the most famous, and arguably the best beach on the Island though when Cruise ships dock it can become a bit crowded.

This tour is a great chance to see the Cocoa Plantations of the Belmont Estate and learn more about how Chocolate is produced. If you’re lucky the owner, Mot, will personally show you around but either way this is great informative excursion for chocoholics of all ages
Events and festivals
Grenada Hash House Harriers – The Grenada Hash House Harriers meet every second Saturday at 4.00 p.m. for a paper chase – it really is that simple. You can join in if you are reasonably fit (apply in advance) – it’s usually a moderately challenging route of about 60 to 90 minutes and is a great way to get more acquainted with the Island on foot – or you can of course just go along and watch.

Gary Rhodes used to holiday every year at The Calabash Hotel with his family and loved the Island and Hotel so much that when the owners asked him to take over the Restaurant there he jumped at the chance. The Restaurant offers classic British cuisine with a Grenadian twist and is perfect for a Special Occasion. n.b. DRESS CODE | Elegantly casual. Jacket and tie are not required and knee length dress shorts are acceptable for gentlemen. Please note that sleeveless shirts for men, sports clothing, slippers (flip flops), trainers (sneakers) and beachwear are not acceptable.
Climate
Grenada's climate is tropical. The dry season runs January-May, and the rainy season runs June-December, but even then showers tend to be short.

- Best time of year to travel: Grenada is a year round destination. It even manages to escape most Hurricanes due to its location. Grenada has only experienced three hurricanes in the last 50 years. May and June are great times to visit offering great weather and lower prices
- Currency: Eastern Caribbean Dollar but US Dollars are also widely accepted.
