Wengen lies high up on a sunny, sheltered terrace at the foot of the Jungfrau, with spectacular views. You arrive in this charming, friendly village by mountain train as it is virtually traffic-free. The local area pass covers Wengen and Grindelwald, whilst the Jungfrau whole area pass covers Mürren in addition. The whole region is great for all grades of skier, with the nursery slopes in the heart of the village but it is particularly suited to intermediate skiers and progressing beginners. Steeped in skiing history, Wengen was one of the first popular resorts for British and Irish skiers. Its unique, laid-back village atmosphere and traditional chalet-style buildings give it lots of character. Plus there’s plenty to offer off the slopes, like snow activities and Europe’s highest railway station and beautiful ice palace, making it a firm favourite with families and mixed groups
