Mayrhofen has a well-deserved reputation amongst skiers and boarders for its immense, snow-sure ski area and fantastic après-ski. One of Austria's best known resorts, Mayrhofen lies at the end of the beautiful Ziller Valley which is home to a number of ski areas totalling 650ms of piste, all on one lift pass. Most skiers head up to the Penken area which, new for winter 2015/16, will be quickly accessed by an ultra-modern high speed gondola. The other, smaller main area is the Ahorn mountain. Between the entrance of the valley and the Hintertux Glacier you'll find a further 4 ski areas on the Zillertal Superskipass providing a tremendous variety of terrain to explore. An attractive large village, Mayrhofen has a buzzing atmosphere and its pedestrian high street is filled with shops and café-bars, with après-ski starting mid-afternoon. Non-skiers can enjoy a variety of activities in Mayrhofen or take the train and explore other areas.

Mayrhofen has an excellent fun pool centre with adventure indoor pool, sauna, solariums and fitness centre, squash, indoor tennis, horse-riding, ice-skating, sleigh rides, tobogganing, bowling.

There is a wide choice places to eat that cater for all tastes and budgets ranging from local specialities to Chinese. The Tiroler Stube and Mo's are recommended plus many hotels, like the Kramerwirt, have excellent in-house restaurants.
