The village remains largely unspoilt with a charming ambience and it is well known for its top quality hotels giving great hospitality and service (many have spa and wellness facilities). The lift system is modern and queues are small. The skiing and lifts start directly from the village, with skiing back at the end of the day to many of the hotels. The mid-mountain Top Express gondola links Obergurgl with neighbouring Hochgurgl, for easy access to the extended ski area. The reliable snow and quiet pistes make both resorts a popular choice with families and a safe bet for those after gentle and intermediate runs. For a spectacular view of the area, head for the 'Top Mountain Star' restaurant at 3082m. Nightlife and non-ski activities are mainly centred around the hotels, but also include a good variety of traditional après ski bars and restaurants.
